Updated APHIS BRS Permit Application and Training is Available

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Biotechnology Regulatory Services (BRS) is announcing the newly updated BRS permit application is available on APHIS eFile. The improved permit application is a simple and easy way to apply for BRS importation, interstate movement, and environmental release permits. To assist applicants with the updates, training sessions are available.

What You Need to Know

  • Applicants can navigate and build a BRS permit (APHIS 2000) web application more quickly.

  • Managing larger data sets is easier. Applicants can upload and delete attachments and submit larger applications for BRS review (XML uploads up to 25MB).
  • Permit applications have a new look without changing the required information. Simply create and submit applications as you currently do.
  • Applicants can continue to access existing applications and permits as they do today.
