(WASHINGTON) - Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, released the following statement regarding the Department of Homeland Security's Office of the Inspector General report on the Transportation Security Administration's oversight of security badge issuance to airport employees. The report, entitled "TSA's Oversight of the Airport Badging Process Needs Improvement," raises questions about discrepancies in TSA's airport employee badging process.

"I urge TSA to improve its oversight process, follow the OIG's recommendations and reduce vulnerabilities in airport worker credentialing. By making the vetting process for airport employees more thorough and comprehensive, we can improve security."
