Thompson Statement on Secret Service Incident

Thompson Statement on Secret Service Incident

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Homeland Security on March 12, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

(WASHINGTON) - Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, released the below statement on news reports of an incident at the White House on March 4th involving Secret Service agents.

This incident is quite disturbing and again raises several concerns about the need for cultural change at the Secret Service. I am pleased, however, that Director Clancy gave attention to this matter and referred it to the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General for immediate investigation. I look forward to reviewing the results of this investigation - and if it is determined that misconduct or security violations took place, I expect the new Director to address the issues quickly and appropriately.
