Foxx Slams NLRB’s Draconian Efforts to Silence Big Labor Opposition

Education and Labor Committee Republican Leader Virginia Foxx (R-NC) released the following statement on National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo’s memorandum that seeks to eliminate the ability of employers to discuss workplace matters with employees, eradicating their free speech activities:

“The NLRB was tasked by Congress to serve as a fair and neutral arbiter in administering the National Labor Relations Act, but its partisan advocacy under this administration—more so its policy objectives—suggest that it is currently acting in stark contrast to this mandate and as a front group for powerful union bosses. General Counsel Abruzzo’s memorandum is merely a hyper-partisan love letter to unions.

“Employees deserve to hear both sides of an issue to make a well-informed decision on whether to accept or reject membership in a union, a decision with immense implications for workers and their families. General Counsel Abruzzo’s memo seeks to strip them of that opportunity, claiming that these meetings give employers a ‘license to coerce’—an allegation that’s devoid of both logic and an acceptance of reality. God forbid we let workers make their own decisions. Should the NLRB choose to overturn decades of precedent and silence job creators, the consequences will be disastrous.”
