Harkin Applauds Senate Approval of EEOC Nominees

The following press release was published by the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions on Dec. 3, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA), Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, today applauded Senate approval of two Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) nominees - P. David Lopez to serve as General Counsel of the EEOC and Charlotte Burrows to serve as a Member of the EEOC. Both nominees were approved by the HELP Committee in November.

“An economy that works for everyone starts with a ladder of opportunity that is open to all." Harkin said. “American workers deserve to know that they will be treated fairly on the job. The EEOC plays a vital role in our economy by combating discrimination and supporting employment opportunities, both for individuals with disabilities and all Americans. I am confident these nominees will help the EEOC continue to fulfill its important mission and know they will make a difference in the lives of workers around the country."
