(Washington, D.C.) - Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), Ranking Member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee released the following statement commemorating the 50th anniversary of Head Start.

“For fifty years, Head Start has helped young learners build their skills so they have the opportunity to learn, thrive, and succeed. By working closely with families and communities, Head Start also demonstrates the value of strong partnerships in extending more educational opportunities to our students. Investing in early learning is not only critical for preparing our children for their future - it’s also critical for our nation’s long-term economic growth. I’m proud to have fought to strengthen this program, and I look forward to building on Head Start’s record of success for years to come."
