Murray on President Trump’s Proposed HHS Budget: “Nothing Short of an Attack on Families’ Health”

The following press release was published by the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions on May 23, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

(Washington, D.C.) - Today Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) issued the following statement on President Trump’s budget proposal released this morning for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS):

“President Trump’s budget is nothing short of an attack on families’ health, and shows yet again that he will go to any lengths to create chaos in our health care system. His plans to end Medicaid as we know it, gut critical public health, workforce training, and rural health programs, and slash bipartisan investments in medical research would leave patients and families sicker and less financially secure. His budget even includes unexpected cuts to children’s health insurance. This proposal is an affront to families nationwide who are rightly worried about what the future holds for their health care, and Democrats are prepared to stand with these families and fight back tooth and nail against this Administration’s reckless policies."
