Wyden Praises Announcement of Tim Reif as USTR Chief Transparency Officer

The following press release was published by the United States Senate Committee on Finance Chairman's News on Sept. 3, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON - SenateFinance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today praised the announcement of Tim Reif as Chief Transparency Officer at the Office of U.S. Trade Representative (USTR). Wyden successfully fought to create the new post as part of the Bipartisan Trade Prioritization and Accountability Act, which he co-authored.

“This announcement is a good move to begin implementing the transparency provisions of our bipartisan trade bill, and that starts with naming a Chief Transparency Officer to be accountable for making the trade process more open and transparent," Wyden said. “Tim Reif has a distinguished record for prioritizing trade enforcement in his role as General Counsel and I believe he is equally capable of bringing sunlight to our trade negotiations."
