Wyden Applauds Passage of Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act

The following press release was published by the United States Senate Committee on Finance Chairman's News on Dec. 4, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON - Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore. applauds today’s passage of the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act of 2015. The legislation will now go to the President’s desk for signature.

“This bill provides long-term certainty for addressing our country’s infrastructure needs and ends the pattern of ineffective short term patches," said Wyden. “It ensures that states, like Oregon, can move forward with critical transportation projects including building bridges, repairing highways, and operating transit infrastructure," said Wyden.

Wyden also recognized the bill for including three essential highway projects in Oregon as well as vital tourism priorities for the state.

The FAST Act reauthorizes the Highway Trust Fund, extending federal transportation funding for five years, and reopens the U.S. Export-Import Bank.
