Hatch to Hold Hearing on HHS Secretary Nomination

The following press release was published by the United States Committee on Finance Ranking Member’s News on Jan. 17, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON - Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) will convene a hearing on Tuesday, January, 24, 2017, to consider the nomination of Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) to be the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary. The hearing will take place at 10:00 a.m. in Room 215 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.

“Congressman Price is immensely qualified to lead the Department of Health and Human Services," Hatch said. “As a doctor, he has a firsthand understanding of the healthcare system on the ground and how policies from Washington affect the patient-doctor relationship. And as a legislator, he has set impressive markers on how to reform the healthcare system so patients - not Washington - are empowered to make healthcare decisions for themselves. Installing Dr. Price to lead HHS is a paramount step in repealing and replacing Obamacare with patient-centered reforms that address costs and increase choice. I look forward to having Rep. Price before the Committee to further examine his numerous qualifications to lead the Department."
