WASHINGTON - Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) will convene a hearing on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, to examine ways to streamline the individual tax system to make it work better for American individuals and families. The hearing, entitled, “Individual Tax Reform" will take place at 10 a.m. in Room 215 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.
“Each tax season, hard-working American families have to make their way through an endless web of red tape filled with complex tax credits, deductions, exclusions and eligibilities, which are difficult to navigate and often prevent taxpayers from utilizing available financial benefits," Hatch said. “Clearly, the code is broken and that’s why Congress and the administration are working to create a tax system for individuals that is simpler, fairer and will deliver much-needed relief to middle-class families. This hearing will give members an opportunity to dive deeper into the policies that are on the books today and examine how we can best update the code to achieve our goal."
