Wyden Statement on Association Health Plan Proposed Rule

The following press release was published by the United States Senate Committee on Finance Chairman's News on Jan. 4, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today released the following statement after the Trump administration announced a proposed rule that would ease access to association health plans, which do not have the same consumer protections as marketplace plans:

“The Trump administration has declared open season for fraudsters selling junk insurance while those with pre-existing conditions will find health care further and further out of reach," Wyden said. “Instead of working to make health care better and more affordable in the new year, the president is choosing to undermine Americans’ health care to score political points."
