Wyden Requests Financial Records Related to Dmitry Rybolovlev and Purchase of Trump Palm Beach Property

The following press release was published by the United States Senate Committee on Finance Chairman's News on Feb. 9, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C. - Finance Committee Ranking Member Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today requested from the Treasury Department any records involving Russian oligarch Dmitry Rybolovlev and his $95 million purchase of Donald Trump’s Palm Beach estate.

Mr. Rybolovlev sold two tracts of the Palm Beach property in 2016 and 2017 to shell companies without clear beneficial owners.

Sen. Wyden’s request included any Suspicious Activity Reports related to the 2008 sale, which more than doubled the price Mr. Trump paid for it just four years earlier. He also requested information collected under Treasury’s Geographic Targeting Orders program, which requires title insurance companies to identify the people behind shell companies used for all-cash purchases of luxury real estate. Palm Beach County is one of the geographic areas covered by the targeting orders.
