WASHINGTON, D.C. - Ways and Means Committee Chairman Sander M. Levin (D-MI) issued the following statement applauding the World Trade Organization panel report issued today finding that Airbus received illegal subsidies from the European Union:
“Today’s World Trade Organization panel report is a significant victory for the United States and for Boeing. The report confirms that countries of the European Union have been illegally subsidizing Airbus aircraft and requires the EU to withdraw the subsidies or remove their adverse effects. Airbus must now compete on a level playing field according to international rules. This is a decisive win and I am confident that the United States will prevail again if the report is appealed. I commend USTR’s hard work to achieve this critical outcome."
