WASHINGTON - House and Senate Democrats and Labor Secretary Hilda Solis today joined with dozens of unemployed Americans to urge a renewal of the federal unemployment insurance programs, which are scheduled to begin to expire Dec. 31. Without action, 2.1 million Americans will be cut off unemployment insurance by mid-February and six million by the end of the year.
