House to Vote on Murray-Ryan Evidence-Based Policy Commission Legislation

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on July 29, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) announced that next week the House will take up H.R. 1831, the Evidence-Based Policy Commission Act, legislation co-authored by House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Senator Patty Murray (D-WA). In response, Chairman Ryan released the following statement:

“There’s a big difference between analyzing a problem and solving it. This commission will help us shift the focus in Washington from measuring effort to getting results. We will figure out how to harness the tremendous amount of program data we collect already. And in the end, we won’t have debates between Republicans and Democrats-but between what works and what doesn’t. So I thank Leader McCarthy for scheduling this bill and urge all my colleagues, on both sides of the aisle, to support it."
