Brady Statement on Leading Dem Proposal To Eliminate Private Health Care Plans

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on April 10, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, the top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement in response to Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) revamped “Medicare for All" plan:

“Today’s standard bearer for the Democrat party renewed his demand to deny families the good health care plans they receive at work while jeopardizing the Medicare seniors enjoy today - and dozens of Democrats are eagerly lining up to join him for this dangerous socialist experiment.

“Doubling hard-working American’s taxes and forcing unelected Washington bureaucrats into the middle of patients’ relationships with their doctors is reckless and will surely backfire.

“Republicans - the party responsible for the Children’s Health Insurance Program, Medicare Part D, Medicare Advantage, and the original law that created protections for folks with pre-existing conditions - stand ready to work together with Democrats to lower out-of-pocket costs while expanding choices for patients. But this new plan from the Democrat’s policy chief is a non-starter."
