WASHINGTON, D.C. - Ways and Means Republican Leader Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement in response to the announcement by Rep. John Lewis, D-GA, that he is undergoing treatment for stage 4 pancreatic cancer:
“One of my great honors is to serve with John on the Ways & Means Committee, and I’ve witnessed firsthand his remarkable integrity, intelligence, and willingness to work across the aisle if it means Americans will have greater dignity, opportunity, and equal rights.
“This diagnosis is difficult news, but God has always had His hand on this remarkable servant. I know John’s fighting spirit will not be overwhelmed easily, given the difficult odds he has beaten over the course of his life. Cathy and I are praying for him and his family’s continued strength."
