WASHINGTON, DC- Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement regarding the departure of Select Revenue Measures Subcommittee Staff Director Aruna Kalyanam, who will join the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Legislative Affairs as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Tax and Budget:

“I greatly appreciate Aruna’s decades of service on Capitol Hill and her notable contributions to the Ways and Means Committee. Staff and lawmakers on both sides of the aisle view her as a valuable source of tax expertise and institutional knowledge. While her departure is a loss for our team, Aruna is a superb addition to the Biden Treasury Department who brings an exceptional understanding of Congress and the lawmaking process to the agency. I wish her all the best and look forward to her continued engagement with the Committee as we work to ensure a fairer tax code, fight the climate crisis, create jobs, and build our economy back better from the devastating COVID downturn."
