WASHINGTON, DC-Today, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) updates regarding nursing home guidance, including revised visitation recommendations.
“Last month, I urged CMS to release clear guidance on nursing home visitation policies," said Chairman Neal. “I am glad to see CMS issue clear, updated guidance today in accordance with the CDC for nursing homes to safely expand visitation options during the pandemic, which will be incredibly helpful for patients and families."
In a letter to CMS Acting Administrator Elizabeth Richter on Feb. 25, 2021, Chairman Neal urged the incoming CMS leadership to reinstate patient protections waived by the Trump Administration and implement a number of pressing administrative changes crucial to improving patient safety, oversight, and enforcement mechanisms.
