Neal Statement on Kind Retirement

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on Aug. 10, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

SPRINGFIELD, MA-Today, House Ways and Means Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement after Ways and Means Committee Member Congressman Ron Kind (D-WI) announced that he will retire at the end of the 117th Congress:

“Congressman Kind has been a close friend, and fierce ally on the Ways and Means Committee throughout his tenure, and his decision to not seek re-election is a loss for our Committee, our Caucus, and the Congress. For nearly 25 years, he has been an honorable, humble public servant, who is committed to bipartisanship wherever possible. From fighting for farmers and small business owners on the Trade Subcommittee to reshaping our health care system through his contributions to the Affordable Care Act, Ron has distinguished himself as a trusted voice for Wisconsin, and rural America-at-large.

“I thank him for all that he has given to the Congress and the American people. I will miss my esteemed colleague, but wish him, Tawni, and their boys, all the best in this next phase."
