Statement from Willie May, Associate Director of Laboratory Programs concerning the Appointment of Patrick Gallagher to be the Next Chancellor of the University of Pittsburgh

The following press release was published by the National Institute of Standards and Technology on Feb. 10, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

"Pat Gallagher will be sorely missed at NIST. As Director of NIST for the last several years and a 20-year veteran of the organization, he has been a model of leadership and passion for our important work in support of U.S. industry and science. He has made a positive difference at NIST in so many ways, we can't thank him enough.

As our friend and long-time colleague, we're happy for him. We know how much he values his strong connections to his alma mater, the University of Pittsburgh. This is a great opportunity to lead a great university. We have no doubt he will apply the same outstanding vision, intelligence and energy to this new challenge that he has generously given to NIST and the Department of Commerce." - Willie May, Associate Director of Laboratory Programs
