USDOJ-OJP-OVW grant application closes on May 12

The Office on Violence Against Women is offering a grant open from April 13 to May 12.

The grant could provide up to $300,000.

This program is authorized by 34 U.S.C. 12291(b)(11). The SAFE Virtual Practicum (the Practicum) is an in-depth, interactive training on conducting sexual assault medical forensic exams (SAFEs). Based on the OVW SAFE Protocol and SAFE Training Standards, the Practicum allows the user to conduct a mock exam and includes a courtroom and a crime lab, interviews with victims, an expert roundtable, a mock Sexual Assault Response Team discussion, and scenarios with patients from unique populations, such as an elderly victim. The purpose of the SAFE Virtual Practicum Program (SAFE VP) (CFDA # 16.526) is to maintain the Practicum by updating via technical advancement and provide additional technical assistance (TA) to users of the Practicum. For additional information about this program and related performance measures, including how awards contribute to the achievement of program goals and objectives, see: OVW grant program information: OVW Grants and Programs Webpage Program performance measures under the Measuring Effectiveness Initiative: VAWA Measuring Effectiveness Initiative webpage Examples of successful projects in OVWs most recent report to Congress on the effectiveness of VAWA grant programs.
