The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District will close road and foot traffic access to Wallace Dam starting today.
Personnel will move equipment to the dam to repair slides, which will require use of the park and parking lot.
For visitor safety, no member of the public will be permitted in the vicinity of the dam until work is concluded.
There is no estimated completion date at this time. The district will notify the public when the closure is lifted.
The USACE Vicksburg District is engineering solutions to the nation’s toughest challenges. The Vicksburg District encompasses a 68,000-square-mile area across portions of Mississippi, Arkansas and Louisiana, that holds nine major river basins and incorporates approximately 460 miles of mainline Mississippi River levees.
