Kids ages 8-18 are invited to sign up for this summer's Federal Aviation Administration's summer aviation education opportunities across the nation.
Aviation Career Education Academy schools are launching again this summer, co-sponsored by FAA, the Organization of Black Aviation Professionals and local, statewide and regional groups, according to FAA's May 20 news release. The programs encourage elementary, middle and high school students to engage in aviation career exploration and science, technology, engineering and mathematics experiences, the FAA reported.
"The aerospace community wants the best, brightest and most diverse group of people from all walks of life and programs like the ACE Academies play an important role in making that happen by connecting young people to potential careers in aviation," FAA Deputy Administrator A. Bradley Mims said in the release.
ACE Academy Schools this summer marks a return for the program, which had been closed the last two summers because of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the news release.
ACE Academy schools begin in early June and take place throughout the summer, according to the FAA. Among these are the Ace Academy in Phoenix, Ariz., June 6-10; ACE Academy High Desert in Apple Valley, Calif., June 20-30; ACE Academy in Miami, Fla., June 20-25; and ACE Academy Twin Cities in Minneapolis, Minn., June 13-17.
Along with the aviation career education schools, the FAA cosponsors multiple programs which aims to teach elementary to high school students from many ethnic and economic backgrounds about aerospace and potential careers and college choices, according to the FAA.
