Washington, DC - Congressman Howard L. Berman issued the following statement in response to a recent anti-Semitic sermon delivered by the Palestinian Authority’s principal Mufti, Muhammad Hussein at an event celebrating the 47th anniversary of the founding of the Fatah party. The statement follows.

“I condemn the offensive sermon delivered by the principal Palestinian Authority religious leader, Mufti Muhammad Hussein, who preached last week that the killing of Jews by Muslims will bring on a messianic era. The Mufti’s remarks are an invitation to genocide and cannot be tolerated. I call on Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to condemn these comments at once, and relieve Mufti Hussein of his position within the Palestinian Authority.".
