Howard Berman Introduces Legislation to Strengthen U.S.-Israel Security Cooperation

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Foreign Affairs on March 6, 2012. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Howard L. Berman, the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, co-sponsored H.R. 4133, the U.S.-Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act, alongside Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD), Republican Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) and House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL).

The bipartisan legislation highlights the deep military and security ties between the two nations, affirms Israel’s right to self-defense and the U.S. commitment to Israel’s security.

“On Israel, this Congress speaks with one voice, united and firm," said U.S. Rep. Howard Berman. “The threats directed at Israel from Iran are real and ever-present. Democrats and Republicans stand with Israel during this trying time and are forever committed to her security and safety. I look forward to this bill’s passage with strong bipartisan support."
