Chairman Poe on the hearing: “America is in the middle of an energy revolution. Thanks to shale plays in North Dakota and Texas, our crude production has grown 50 percent since 2008 and is expected to climb to record highs by the end of this decade. While domestic refiners are not configured to handle this type of crude, the United States is also banned from exporting it to willing buyers abroad. America performs better and prospers more when there is free trade. It is time to revisit the crude oil export ban and consider opening up this valuable commodity to the world market. This hearing will bring together industry parties and experts from both sides in order examine any needed changes to our crude energy policy."

This hearing will examine the ways in which improved educational opportunities for women can better local economies and help counter the spread of radicalism."
