Chairman Royce Announces Hearing on Pakistan

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Foreign Affairs on Dec. 14, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C. - Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) announced the Committee will convene a hearing on Wednesday, December 16 to examine Pakistan’s counterterrorism cooperation, its education reform efforts, and U.S. aid to Pakistan. The hearing, entitled “The Future of U.S.-Pakistan Relations, " will begin at 10 a.m.

Chairman Royce on the hearing: “I’ve long been concerned about Pakistan’s failure to take meaningful action against key Islamist terrorist groups operating within its territory. The horrific attack in San Bernardino, and Tafsheen Malik’s education at a Pakistani madrassa, underscore the need for a new approach to confront this terrorist threat. Wednesday’s hearing will give the Committee a chance to examine U.S.-Pakistan counterterrorism cooperation, the effectiveness of U.S. aid, and the concerning rise of schools in Pakistan teaching students hardline, jihadist ideology."
