Royce Statement on Upcoming U.N. Security Council Anti-Israel Vote

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Foreign Affairs on Dec. 22, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C. - House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) released the following statement in advance of today’s scheduled anti-Israel resolution at the U.N. Security Council.

“It has long been the position of the United States to oppose one-sided or anti-Israel resolutions at the United Nations. That’s what this is, and the Obama Administration should veto it. A durable and sustainable peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians will come only through direct bilateral negotiations between the parties."

NOTE: Last month, the House of Representatives unanimously passed H. Con. Res. 165, a bipartisan resolution authored by Chairman Royce and Ranking Member Engel which called on the administration to oppose and veto U.N. Security Council resolutions that are one-sided or anti-Israel.
