Washington D.C. - Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul (R-TX) and Chairman Eliot Engel (D-NY) released the following joint statement on recent reports that Dr. Walid Fitaihi, a dual citizen of the United States and Saudi Arabia, has been detained and tortured while in Saudi custody.

“We are deeply concerned by reports that Dr. Walid Fitaihi, a dual U.S.-Saudi citizen in Saudi custody, has been tortured. Allegations like this are stunning and the reported lack of due process is completely unacceptable. Torture and coercion of all prisoners must end. We call on Saudi Arabia to immediately release Dr. Fitaihi and allow him to travel outside Saudi Arabia.".
