McCaul Statement on International Criminal Court Ruling Against Israel

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Foreign Affairs on Feb. 9, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, DC - House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul released the following statement after the International Criminal Court ruled in a case against Israel last week.

“I am deeply concerned by the International Criminal Court’s ruling regarding its jurisdiction in the case brought by the ICC Prosecutor against Israel. This decision is not aimed at seeking justice, but is designed to unfairly target Israel, who is not a signatory to the Rome Statute, and wrongly declares Palestinian statehood, undermining efforts to bring the Palestinians to the negotiating table. I continue to believe the ICC’s jurisdiction should only apply to those countries who are a part of it, which Israel is not.".
