Chairman Meeks Releases March HFAC Schedule

Washington, D.C. - Today, Representative Gregory W. Meeks, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the schedule for the month of March.

Events that are not closed to the public will be accessible via the Committee’s website, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. All Committee events are subject to change at any time due to unforeseen circumstances.

* March 1 at 3:00 p.m., ET: The Committee will convene its members for a virtual public briefing entitled, “Developing an Indo-Pacific Economic Framework."

* March 2 at 10:00 a.m., ET: The Committee will convene its members for a hybrid hearing entitled, “The 2001 AUMF and War Powers: The Path Forward."

* March 8 at 9:00 a.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Europe, Energy, the Environment, and Cyber will convene its members for a virtual public briefing entitled, “Celebrating International Women’s Day: Updates from the Women-Led Democratic Movement in Belarus."

* March 8 at 2:00 p.m., ET: The Subcommittee on International Development, International Organizations, and Global Corporate Social Impact will convene its members for a hybrid hearing entitled, “Shifting the Power: USAID’s Efforts to Support Locally-Led Development."

* March 9 at 10:00 a.m., ET: The Committee will convene its members for a closed briefing on Russia and Ukraine.

* March 16 at 1:30 p.m., ET: The Committee will convene its members for a virtual public briefing with Jessica Stern, U.S. Special Envoy to Advance the Human Rights of LGBTQI+ Persons.

* March 16 at 3:00 p.m., ET: The Subcommittee on the Middle East, North Africa, and Global Counterterrorism will convene its members for a virtual hearing entitled, “11 Years of War: The Humanitarian Impact of the Ongoing Conflict in Syria."

* March 18 at 9:00 a.m., ET: The Committee will convene its members for a closed briefing on Yemen.

* March 29 at 10:00 a.m., ET: The Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere, Migration, Civilian Security, and International Economic Policy will convene its members for a hybrid hearing entitled, “Learning Loss in Latin America and the Caribbean: How to Build Better Education Systems in the Wake of the Pandemic."

* March 29 at 2:00 p.m., ET: The Committee will convene its members for a virtual public roundtable entitled, “Leading the Way: Women-Driven Initiatives in Latin America and the Caribbean."

* March 30 at 10:00 a.m., ET: The Subcommittees on the Middle East, North Africa, and Global Counterterrorism and Europe, Energy, the Environment, and Cyber will convene its members for a joint virtual hearing entitled, “Opportunities and Challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean: Examining U.S. Interests and Regional Cooperation."

* March 31 at 2:00 p.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, and Global Human Rights will convene its members for a virtual hearing entitled, “Present Challenges and Progress on COVID-19 in Africa."
