U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers working special operations at the Del Rio Port of Entry seized narcotics worth over $145,000 in street value.
“Our CBP officers continue to utilize their inspectional tactics and techniques to examine travelers and vehicles as they enter the port of entry,” said Port Director Liliana Flores, Del Rio Port of Entry. “This seizure is another example of the dedication of our officers to prevent dangerous drugs from entering our community.”
On Friday, May 6, 2022, CBP officers conducting special operations at the Del Rio International Bridge encountered a 2013 passenger vehicle and referred it for further inspection, which included utilizing non-intrusive inspection (NII) equipment and a K9 search. After conducting a thorough secondary examination, officers seized seven packages containing 18.87 pounds (8.56 kg) of cocaine concealed within the vehicle.
The narcotics have an estimated street value of $145,520.
The narcotics and vehicle were seized by CBP OFO officers. The case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
