House Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement on the Biden administration canceling oil leases in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico.
“President Biden is continuing his war on American energy by canceling these leases and making it harder for us to produce energy at home. Gasoline is already at record high prices, with the national average price at $4.42 a gallon. He must end this pain for Americans who are already hurting from his inflation crisis and seeing the cost of everything go up.
“Democrats’ attempt to shift blame from President Biden’s energy crisis by calling it ‘price gouging’ or blaming it on Putin won’t work. The American people see right through this excuse, especially when the administration continues to shut down American energy like canceling these leases in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico.
“Democrats should join Republicans in supporting the American Energy Independence from Russia Act, which they’ve blocked five times. We need this bill to pass so we can unleash domestic energy production, build more pipelines, remove restrictions on LNG exports, and restart oil and gas leasing on federal lands and offshore waters.”
