Today, Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney, Chairwoman of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, released the following statement after the House passed H.R.6531, Targeting Resources to Communities in Need Act of 2022 in a bipartisan vote:
“According to the most recent Census data, 37 million people in our country live in poverty, and many communities have been struggling for years. I am proud to have helped pass this critical, bipartisan bill brought forward by my colleague Majority Whip Clyburn, to target more federal resources to the communities that need them most. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Senate to ensure the swift passage of this bill so that no community is left behind.”
On April 6, 2022, the Committee favorably reported the Targeting Resources to Communities in Need Act of 2022, a bipartisan bill introduced by Rep. James Clyburn, House Majority Whip and Chairman of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, and Rep. Hal Rogers, Ranking Member of the State, Foreign Operation, and Related Program Appropriations Subcommittee. The bill would increase transparency regarding high and persistent-poverty communities and direct increased federal program investments to those areas.
