McCaul on Administration’s Announcement of Additional Security Assistance for Ukraine

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Foreign Affairs on June 1. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C. - House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul released a statement following the administration’s announcement of the latest security assistance package for Ukraine.

“I am glad to see the Biden administration send much-needed MLRS to Ukraine. However, the hesitation to provide these systems is unfortunately consistent with this administration being too slow to respond to Ukraine’s battlefield needs. Vladimir Putin responds only to strength, not indecision and handwringing. I urge the administration to send longer-range rockets to Ukraine immediately to help bring peace by providing Ukraine with the weapons it needs to push every last invading Russian soldier out of its sovereign territory. In the face of Putin’s brutality and war crimes in Ukraine, it is utterly unacceptable that the administration is still debating whether these longer-range systems are ‘too provocative.’".
