Leader Rodgers Criticizes Biden’s Expensive Energy Policies

Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) blasted President Biden’s disastrous energy policies that have now allowed gas prices to reach a national average of $5 a gallon for the first time ever.

“The national average for a gallon of gas just hit $5 because of President Biden’s war on American energy. This unaffordable pain at the pump is hurting everyone and making the inflation crisis worse across our entire economy.

“The administration must act with urgency to lower costs and provide reliable energy, especially with the threat of summer blackouts coming. Imagine being that parent who can’t afford their gas to drive hours to find baby formula. They are worried about being able to feed their baby, and then their lights and air conditioning won’t come on. This is extremely dangerous and life threatening. However, it’s a terrifying reality in America today because President Biden’s energy crisis is hurting our way of life.

“To lower costs and end this crisis, the administration must flip the switch for more American energy production with solutions like the American Energy Independence from Russia Act. How expensive will gas prices need to get for President Biden to say ‘yes’ to American leadership that unleashes our abundant energy resources and technological innovation? This is how we raise people’s standard of living, ensure a more secure future for all, and provide relief the hardworking men and women of this country desperately need.”

NOTE: House Democrats have voted six times to block the American Energy Independence from Russia Act, which unleash American energy and lower costs by:

  • Immediately approving the Keystone XL pipeline
  • Unleashing U.S. LNG exports
  • Restarting oil and gas leasing on federal lands and waters
  • Protecting energy and mineral development from attacks by the Biden administration

On Tuesday, Republican members on the Energy and Commerce Committee sent letters to Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission demanding to know how the Biden administration plans to prepare for the dangerous blackouts that the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) says are likely this summer.
