U.S. Border Patrol Rescue Three Individuals in Two Separate Events

U.S. Border Patrol agents from El Centro Sector rescued two individuals in the Jacumba Wilderness region near Ocotillo, in two separate events.

The first rescue was initiated at approximately 10:30 a.m., Friday, when El Centro Sector’s Dispatch notified El Centro Station of a 9-1-1 call, from a lost migrant who needed assistance. Agents responded to the last known GPS coordinates provided by the migrant. At approximately 10:50 a.m., agents located the lost migrant, 1.4 miles north of the U.S./Mexico border. After a wellness check it was determined no medical assistance was needed.

The second rescue was dispatched at approximately 5:05 a.m., Saturday, when El Centro Sector’s Dispatch notified El Centro Station of a call they received from two migrants, that were out of food and water and in need of assistance. Agents responded to the last known GPS coordinates of the individuals. At approximately 5:53 a.m., agents located both migrants 4.3 miles north of the U.S./Mexico border. Both migrants were found to be safe and did not require medical attention.

All three migrants were placed under arrest, and it was verified that they did not possess the required documents to be present in the United States legally. The migrants were taken into custody and transported to the El Centro Sector Processing Center for additional medical evaluations.

All undocumented individuals will be processed for removal under Title 42.

Since October, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents have successfully rescued 205 individuals who were lost, in distress, or abandoned by smugglers.
