'Thrilled to host' Cybersecurity Advisory Committee’s third ever meeting in Austin

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) recently held the third ever Cybersecurity Advisory Committee meeting in Austin, Texas.

According to a CISA press release, Wednesday's meeting consisted of providing updates and recommendations on work conducted by its six subcommittees to CISA Director Jen Easterly.

“I was thrilled to host CISA’s Cybersecurity Advisory Committee today in Austin to discuss the recommendations from committee members that will help ensure that CISA is the cyber-defense agency that this country truly needs and deserves,” Easterly said in the release.

She described committee efforts as a key step in maintaining cyber security. 

“I couldn’t be more grateful for the committee’s partnership and look forward to closely studying their recommendations. With their guidance and the great work of the CISA team, we will help CISA fulfill its mission of ensuring the security and resilience of our critical infrastructure," Easterly said. 

Some of the work updates given by members of the committee include projects like the Cyber Workforce Subcommittee, turning the Corner on Cyber Hygiene Subcommittee, the Technical Advisory Council, protecting Critical Infrastructure from Mis- Dis- and Mal (MDM) Information Subcommittee and Building Resilience and Reducing Systemic Risk to Critical Infrastructure Subcommittee, according to the release.

According to the release, Easterly is reviewing the recommendations and will provide a response in the near future.

Easterly also assigned new topics to the committee, with a focus on "key characteristics of a national alert system for cyber-security risk."

According to the release, the next Cybersecurity Advisory Committee meeting takes place on Sept. 13.
