This year, the United States and Colombia celebrate the 200th anniversary of U.S.-Colombian relations.

History of Diplomatic Relations

On June 19, 1822, Colombia and the United States officially established diplomatic relations when President James Monroe received Manuel Torres as the Colombian Chargé d’affaires.
