The Department of Labor recently announced the launch of the Android version of its Timesheet app, designed to help workers prevent wage and hour violations before they occur.

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division and Office of the Chief Information Officer announced this version of the app, according to a June 30 news release.

“By empowering workers with our Timesheet app, we are helping to prevent wage and hour violations before they occur,” Wage and Hour Division Acting Administrator Jessica Looman said in the release. “This app allows workers – particularly those who may be vulnerable to wage theft – to track their hours and earnings and obtain help when they need it.”

The app helps track work hours, break time and overtime hours and calculates wages due, the release reported. The iOS version of the Timesheet app had previously been announced.

The iOS version had been downloaded more than 35,000 times as of June 29, Looman said in the release.

“We are hopeful that the number of downloads will more than double with the availability of this Android version,” she said, the release reported.

Employers and employees can use this app whether employees are paid hourly, by salary or by the piece to enter all data and calculate the wages due, according to the release. Detailed earnings calculations can be performed with the app, which enables users to select from pay frequency options depending on that day’s work.
