Today, House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member John Conyers Jr. (D-MI) and House Judiciary Immigration Subcommittee Ranking Member Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) issued a letter to House Speaker John A. Boehner urging that House Leadership honor their commitment to regular order. H.R. 3009, the “Enforce the Law for Sanctuary Cities Act," is being rushed to the House floor this week without any committee review of the legislation.
The House Judiciary Committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow at 10 a.m. for a hearing on “sanctuary cities." The letter specifically cites House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s declaration made last year that he will, “…commit to the committee process and regular order."
