The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency recently announced its first attaché office, located in London, will officially open this month.

This new office will reportedly serve as a hub for collaboration between CISA, UK government officials and various federal agency officials, according to a July 18 news release. The attaché will work to advance the agency's missions in cybersecurity, emergency communications and infrastructure protection.

“As America’s cyber defense agency, we know that digital threat actors don’t operate neatly within borders. To help build resilience against threats domestically, we must think globally,” said CISA Director Jen Easterly said in the release. “I’m thrilled for CISA’s first international attaché office to open in London — true operational collaboration is a global endeavor.”

According to the release, the new office will work on the advancement of operational cooperation, development of partner capacity, reinforcing cooperation through stakeholder engagement and the establishment of an international policy ecosystem.

The first UK attaché will be Julie Johnson, who previously served as a regional protective security adviser for CISA in New York and in the Bureau of Intelligence and Research, Bureau of International  Narcotics and Law Enforcement and Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs before joining the CISA, the release reported. Additionally, she has served as the regional lead for CISA's federal interagency working groups and has "a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise in cybersecurity and critical infrastructure."

CISA currently coordinates the national effort to identify, monitor and mitigate threats to the digital and physical infrastructure of the United States, according to the release.
