Pine Ridge Man Acquitted

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Pine Ridge, South Dakota man was acquitted of the charge of Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition on Feb. 22, 2013.

On June 6, 2012 Wesley Wade Running Shield was indicted for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition at Pine Ridge on June 6, 2012. Running Shield was found not guilty of the charge on Feb. 22, 2013.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs Office of Justice Services, and the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura Shattuck and Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah B. Collins prosecuted the case.
