Gulfport, Miss. - Brian Scott Carlton, 43, of Vancleave, Mississippi, pled guilty in U.S. District Court today to conspiracy to submit false claims to the United States, U.S. Attorney Gregory K. Davis and Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) Supervisory Special Agent in Charge Brian Swords announced.
Carlton admitted conspiring with others to submit false claims to the United States Department of Defense by falsifying various travel documents while serving in the Navy at the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 74 in Gulfport, Mississippi. He will be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Sul Ozerden on Oct. 31, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. and faces a maximum penalty of ten years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.
This case was investigated by the NCIS and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ruth Morgan.
