BOSTON - A York, Pa. man was sentenced late Friday for production of child pornography and traveling to engage in sex acts with a minor.
Derick Ritter, 42, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge F. Dennis Saylor, IV to 18 years in prison, to be followed by 15 years of supervised release. Ritter pleaded guilty to the charges on April 12, 2013.
Pretending to be a teenage boy, Ritter lured a 15-year-old girl into an online relationship. He then enticed her to engage in sexually explicit conduct via web camera. Ritter recorded videos of the victim and saved them to his computer and persuaded her victim to create sexually explicit videos and send them to him. After “dating" the victim online for several months, Ritter traveled to Massachusetts to meet her in person. He took her to a motel and, despite her protests, engaged in sexual acts with her.
United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz and Vincent B. Lisi, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation - Boston Field Division made the announcement. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Karin M. Bell of Ortiz’s Worcester Branch Office.
