Rapid City Man Indicted For Conspiracy To Distribute A Controlled Substance And Felon In Possession Of A Firearm

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rapid City, South Dakota, man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance and Felon in Possession of Firearm.

Clayton Charles High Wolf, age 29, was indicted on Oct. 22, 2013. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy on Oct. 25, 2013, and pled not guilty to the Indictment.

The maximum penalty upon conviction is up to 40 years’ imprisonment and/or a $5,000,000 fine. The charges are merely an accusation and High Wolf is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force, the Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Rapid City Police Department. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura A. Shattuck is prosecuting the case.

High Wolf was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service. A trial date has been set Dec. 17, 2013.
