The United States Attorney's Office announced that during a federal court session in Great Falls, on February 5, 2014, before U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris, JOHN OWEN HOBBS, JR., 31, of the Box Elder, was sentenced to a term of 18 months probation, $8,657 restitution, and a special assessment of $100.
HOBBS, was sentenced in connection with his Nov. 14, 2013 guilty plea to theft from an Indian tribal organization. In an Offer of Proof filed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Danna Jackson, the government stated that on or around Jan. 10, 2013, JOHN OWEN HOBBS, JR., along with two other individuals, broke into the bookstore at Stone Child College and knowingly stole $8,544.69 worth of merchandise and cash. The Defendant, and others, took seven iPod Touches, an iPod Nano, headphones, and several jackets.
