BUFFALO, N.Y.-U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today that Joseph Lopez, 44, of Buffalo, N.Y., who was convicted of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, was sentenced to nine years in prison by Chief U.S. District Court Judge William M. Skretny.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy C. Lynch, who handled the case, stated that on Nov. 3, 2011, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at the defendant’s residence on Hertel Avenue in Buffalo. During the search, officers seized approximately 400 grams of cocaine, approximately $8,000 in U.S. currency, and three firearms.
The sentencing is the culmination of an investigation on the part of the Buffalo Police Department, under the direction of Commissioner Daniel Derenda and the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of James J. Hunt, Acting Special Agent in Charge, New York Field Division.
